Oh shit. How the fuck am I supposed to choose between The Dresdon Dolls and Th’ Legendary Shackshakers on October 13th?

That’s just not even fair.

I’m leaning towards them Shackshakers. Dresdon Dolls put on a hell of a show, but in all honesty I wasn’t completely insane about their music. The Shackshakers were just so crazy and awesome I’d feel like a real ass if I missed seeing them again. Plus, there’s no telling when that guy is gonna fall over dead. No one can rock that much energy without having something explode eventually.

To add on to what is turning out to be a utterly miserable week my Powerbook’s hard drive crashed last night. It’s been acting a bit wonky for a few days but I thought it was a recent update Apple pushed out. Not so! I’ve been able to access certain files now and then but it seems to be failing randomly.

I keep the vast majority of my important stuff on my server which gets backed up regularly but there are a few things I’ll miss if I can’t get the data back off my Powerbook.

So, Apple’s sending a box and when I’ve exhausted all my options I’ll send the Powerbook to them and they’ll give me a new hard drive. Tonight I’m going to try the “freezer trick” in the hopes I can access the drive for the 5 minutes I’ll need.

So, der White Stripes were pretty great. We got basically the most perfect night you could possibly ask for to see an outdoor show and it was awesome. The show was at Starlight Theater which is a large outdoor ampitheater type thing in Swope Park, near the Kansas City Zoo. They generally do plays there with a few concerts a year to break up the monotony.

It’s a shame they don’t have more shows there. It’s a really nice place with lots of room and incredibly, abnormally polite employees. And man, you should see the bathrooms. Incredible! When you go to as many shows as I do you learn to appreciate a nice bathroom and Starlight so far takes the cake.

So, yea, White Stripes. Our seats weren’t great but the sound was and we could see the band so that was okay. They played really well and were lots of fun to listen to. They didn’t play “Fell In Love With a Girl” which made me sad but they played pretty much everything else I know. They played Union Forever, which is probably my favorite but somehow I missed the chorus, or the bridge, or break or something. Where he says “Union Forever”. So that sucked.

We kicked it pretty hard at the show and when you kick it like that you gotta have something to eat before bed. The fact that Town Topic is like 25 miles away is no deterrent. Hashbrowns, pancakes, coffee and the runniest eggs I’ve ever seen filled our bellys and the crowd and staff, as usual, filled our ears. Cheryl, who I now think of as “our” Town Topic waitress, was in a much better mood than last time and told us all kinds of horrifying stories.

So that was basically that. Nice way to spend a Tuesday night. I was in bed by 2:30am, which ain’t bad for that much fun.

In other news, yesterday I moved my mouse to the left side of my keyboard (as I mentioned) and it seems to have helped dramatically. The pain in my wrist and index finger is gone and the middle finger feels a lot better. I’d say I’m working at about 30% normal speed, but that’s better than the 0% I’ll end up at if I don’t change something. It’ll get faster with time.

About a month or so ago my right middle finger started hurting really badly. It actually happened the day after a party and I thought maybe I had just smacked it against a table or something while running around like an idiot. Well, it never stopped hurting.

Yesterday I woke up and my right index finger was hurting in a similar way. And my right wrist has been starting to bother me. Carpal tunnel here I come!

So, a few minutes ago I moved my mouse to the left side of my keyboard and I’m going to see if I can be a lefty for a while. This should be fun.

Well, it was inevitable. JoLynn posted her pictures from Adam’s party and they are as bad as I imagined, and sometimes even worse.

I bought the album MCMXC A.D. by Enigma years and years and years ago. It’s hard to say when but it’s been with me for a long time and I have a lot of incredible memories with it as the background music. I’m guessing I got it somewhere around 1993. I consider it one of the absolute best ambient / electronic / trance / whatever albums ever made and I’m listening to it right now.

I just thought I’d tell you.

I fell asleep with the new Coheed and Cambria song playing on repeat last night. It’s a 6 minute song and I slept for about 8 hours so I heard it right around 80 times in my sleep. I’ll tell you what; I hate that bitch now.

In other news JoLynn and Courtney came over last night and decorated my place for the big white trash extravaganza this weekend. So now I just have to make sure I have no guests over before Saturday cause that would be pretty damn embarassing.
We also made piles and piles of Jello shots, as per protocol. Courtney and JoLynn made the “good” shots. Lots of colors, and liquors and flavors. I made my standard death shots with vodka but this time, just to spice it up a little I replaced one cup of the vodka with Blue Curaco; so maybe they won’t be as awful as usual.

Afterwards I was able to (easily) convince them we needed prezels and beer from 75th Street so we went there and teased Adam from afar. Good times.

Man, what I guess will be the new single from Coheed’s new album is up on their site and it ROCKS!
