Restless

Man, I am restless today. I have started three blog posts so far which have grown to a few pages long each and then saved them for later. You should see my Drafts folder. Heh.

Maybe this weekend I’ll get to post on some stuff I’ve been wanting to talk about for a few weeks now.

In current news, I added pushups to my nightly routine. I was already doing situps and that’s great but I need to start to shape my upper chest and pushups will help that. Man, it hurts though. Back, shoulders and pecs are all aching from the last few nights.

In other current news, it’s definitely Spring now. I can tell with two simple things.
1) My house almost blew away last night.
2) I want to move to Europe again.

The second of the two probably sounds pretty familiar by now to long time readers of this site. The wanderlust is strong in me this year my friends. Almost unbearably so.

Dark

It’s dark and stormy both outside and within.
Let’s start with some Deftones and see where that leads us.

Hawt

If I’m going to go home and eat soup for lunch every day I’m going to have to learn to be a little more patient. The roof of my mouth has been scorched now for like a week. Man, it’s hard though. Soup is good!

So last night was The Killers and Tegan and Sarah at The Uptown. Beforehand we ate at what is my new favorite restaurant: Rudy’s. It’s a little Mexican hole in the wall that Tony introduced me to and it’s incredible. I made an absolute pig of myself and walked out so stuffed I could barely move. That hampered my beer consumption for the concert, but that’s okay. I didn’t wanna have any anyway.

Anyway, Tegan and Sarah were okay. I really like their song “Walking With a Ghost” and after hearing it I bought their latest album. Turns out that was the best part (IMHO! Settle down, Courtney) and I didn’t much care for the rest. I’m just not much of a twin sister lesbian rock kinda guy I guess. Twin sister lesbian OTHER stuff maybe. They played well but it just wasn’t my thing.

The Killers on the other hand are my thing and they rocked everyone’s collective socks off. I expected good sound, and I expected good tunes but I didn’t know what to expect from the band itself. Part of going to and enjoying a show is seeing the people that make the music and the way they act and perform can make or break a show for me. For instance, when I saw The Strokes a while back it was obvious that the whole band had complete disdain for the audience. They didn’t want to be there and they were just reciting the music. I love The Strokes music, but I won’t go out of my way to see them again.
The Killers didn’t have that problem. They were in love with the crowd and it showed. They appreciated the applause and the screams and responded in turn with more energy and power. Very cool show. Not much too unexpected, in fact they nearly played their album in order from start to finish. They threw in a few new songs during the set but it was mostly “Hot Fuss”.

I’ll be going to Lollapalooza in Chicago this year and they’ll be there along with the frickin’ PIXIES so that’ll rock.

After the show we bounced over to Harry’s for a bit to meet up with Scotty and his buds. Had a drink or two and headed over to Scott’s new place downtown which I hadn’t seen yet. Very cool. He’s on the 11th floor and has a great view of the city, plus the place is much roomier than I would have expected for a loft/condo type thing. Too bad they don’t allow huge black dogs, deafening music and house parties that last all night. Oh well, the suburbs have to be good for something 🙂

I’ve certainly been blogging a lot recently.

Regret?

You ever get the feeling that other people are having a hell of a lot more fun than you are?
Like these people from The Netherlands on the project I am working on? The ones that are on vacation for what seems like half the year going to places like Egypt (1 month), China (1 month), the Black Forest in Germany (1 week), Rome (2 weeks) and so on and so forth etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum?

In fact, do you ever get the feeling that maybe your priorities are just all wrong?

I’m going to add on to this post quite a bit later on tonight, but now I have to get back to work.
Seriously.

Halp!

Anyone know of a free or cheap (under $50) IP address to region/city/state database? All the ones I can find are commercial.

One More Thing

Oh, one more thing. I’m not tired at all. I was warned that the Prednisone might keep me awake but this is bad news. I did 3x my normal situps and not even a twinge of tired. Gonna be a long ass night.

The Body Eclectic

I just discovered this really awesome trick where I can press right… here and my entire left arm goes numb. My stomach also spasms for some reason. I wonder if this has anything to do with the steroids.

Dookie!

So, I got a set of Scat Mats last night. Now I just need 20 Japanese school girls and a truckload of live eels.

What? You guys don’t know about scat porn?

Nevermind.

Anyway, the Scat Mat is this little (and by little I mean big) plastic mat with wires embedded in it that is used to keep the Sonja off the Leather Couch. Says it right on the box. It uses a capacitor to build up a charge on the wires and then if anything touches one they get a shock that feels just like getting touched by someone all charged up with static. There’s an audible snap too, which is cool. I think it also has a motion sensor because I dropped a non-conductor (blanket) on it and it went off. Pretty sweet. I tested it on myself a few dozen times last night because I’m stupid. I was trying to see if I could convince myself to hold my hand still after it went off instead of jumping back and spinning around in a circle laughing. (Man, I hope my neighbors weren’t watching last night). It’s pretty hard to do. Pretty good deterrent in my opinion.

It may seem like I have an obsession with electrical devices used to fry my dog but I find that it takes a certain amount of voltage to get through to her. About 25kv actually. Cruel? I don’t think so. When I was 12 Michelle Jones dared me to grab the electric fence in her back yard and I swear to God I’ve never even considered grabbing another electric fence since then. In fact, sometimes I pee myself when I see one. Very good training aid.

Yea, so get you some Scat Mats if you have a large black dog and an expensive leather couch and would prefer that never the twain shall meet.

Oh, and on a seperate note: If you see a guy laying in the grass with nothing on but a sombrero tonight do me a favor and make me a grilled cheese sandwich. Thanks.

Pox?

I don’t really remember laying in the grass this past weekend, but I won’t say I didn’t. That is the sort of thing I am wont to do.
In any case, that’s the only reason I can come up with for all these itchy little bumps on my arms. Man, they suck!
